What's This?

New York City - February 2017

On a particularly frigid day in New York City, a man with gloves in his puffy winter jacket came by to inspect what we were up to.

“Is it an octopus?” he asked us.

“Good guess! That’s what most people say.” we told him. Then, we explained what we were up to and walked him through the parts of the clitoris.

He pointed to the glans of the clitoris. “See that’s what I thought was the clit! Learn something new every day, even at my age.”

As we finished up, he took a picture and typed notes about the clitoris on his phone.

Huge shout out to the Kiwi woman who travelled all the way to New York City and braved the cold with us for this drawing. About halfway through, she realized we were using the colors of the New Zealand university where we met. Here is a part of her reflection on the experience, “Being able to help spread awareness of the clitoris by drawing one while visiting NYC was awesome, particularly engaging with onlookers. Oh and there were squirrels nearby!”
